Modern Day Multiplication of Finances

Nothing is more thrilling than knowing the impossible is possible with God, especially when it has to do with multiplying what is already in your hand.

Today, amidst the blaring cries of economic doom and sad statistics of jobs lost, the power of the Word is still alive, still able to strengthen our faith.

Will we trust CNN News or will we trust the Good News?

Take for example, the miracle where Jesus took five loaves of bread, two fish and fed the five thousand. As I pondered that incredible miracle the other day amidst a challenging battle, I asked a simple question to God:

"How do You, God, take our 'loaves of bread' and multiply it today?"

Flashing in my mind came pictures to answer that question.

I saw two older vehicles that continue to run smoothly as we take care of them with regular oil and lube jobs.

I thought of the $20 dollar bill I found in a pocket of jeans the other day. Laundry detergent that lasts forever. Plenty of peanut butter and mac and cheese in the cupboard.

I saw two healthy children who have not had to go to the doctor in months. Then there was the recent unexpected extension by the pharmacy with my thyroid prescription. For some reason they called my doctor about the medicine, and the Doctor renewed it for a year saving me the cost of blood work and an expensive visit.

God continued pop pictures in my mind. I remembered just the other day the timely refund check from our mortgage company paying us back for too much money in our escrow account. And another check that came in the mail.. The first one from an exciting and real home based business that I felt the Lord lead me to.

It was a little amount, but I heard the voice of a big God say, "Despise not small beginnings."

As I smiled thanking God for His modern day blessing of the bread in my hands around me, I realized that the simple little things and the complicated big things of life can all flow together as I put my trust in my Heavenly Father. He is multiplying blessings all around me every day. One blessing you cannot put a price tag on is the passion God can give you to pursue what you believe He has called you to. I have a deep desire to help others with learning ministry marketing strategies and helping stay at home moms earn extra finances with legitimate home based businesses. I believe what God calls you to, He'll more than enough enable you to walk in that path.

I also believe the amazing stories that I hear and read how people get out of massive amounts of debt with no dramatic increase in their wages as a result of taking responsibility to limit their spending to pay off the debt bit by bit. I also believe Jesus can get into any situation where lack may exist, and reward the tenacious faith of a believer.

Back to the Gospel of Mark and this miracle. In the midst of this great challenge, Jesus took what He had, the five loaves and two fish, and thanked God for it. He did not look at the problem: How do you feed five thousand plus with such a little amount?!

No, Jesus looked up.

"And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all." (Mark 6:41)

Once in the disciples hands, the extraordinary miracle working power exploded.

Faith was released as the disciples started to give portions out among the huge crowd. People were fed. Empty bellies became full. Eyes were opened to see Jesus as THE source.

If that wasn't enough, the scripture records: "When they picked up the leftover pieces, they filled twelve baskets with bread and fish." (Mark 6:43)

I think that was God's explanation point added to the miracle!

So as you go through this challenging time in our nation's economy, I encourage you to keep your "eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith." Allow Him to do the impossible. Seek Him first in all you do. Obey Him in the big and small things. Give Him thanks for the same.

He is still the source and the provider. The author of the modern day multiplication of five loaves and two fish.

Your explanation point for the world to see will be giving HIM the glory.
